HC Deb 09 February 1976 vol 905 c55W
Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for Defence which of the Nugent Committee's recommendations with regard to land at Strensall, Yorkshire, have been carried out; and which will be carried out in the next six months.

Mr. Robert C. Brown

All but one of the Nugent Committee's recommendations affecting the Strensall training areas have been carried out. The release of the two areas of land recommended for disposal is in process and should be completed within the next six months.

Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for Defence when the Nugent Committee's recommendations on Llansilin will be carried out.

Mr. Robert C. Brown

Closure of Llansilin is dependent upon the provision of new facilities at Nesscliff. It is not possible at present to forecast when funds will be available for these.

Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for Defence why it has not been possible to carry out the full recommendations of the Nugent Committee on defence lands for Manorbier.

Mr. Robert C. Brown

The only recommendation on Manorbier which it has not yet been decided to implement is that regarding the rangehead. The Army is still using this for firing. The continuing requirement for it is at present under consideration.

Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for Defence when he will carry out the Nugent Committee's recommendation with respect to Eastriggs, Dumfriesshire.

Mr. Robert C. Brown

The future of the Ministry of Defence Depot at Eastriggs is still under consideration within my Department.
