HC Deb 09 February 1976 vol 905 c31W
Mr. Bradford

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he intends to authorise building in areas 36, Roden Street, F3, Grosvenor Road—Falls Road and F2, Durham Street, before a final decision is taken about the proposed Poleglass-Lagmore housing development.

Mr. Concannon

,pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 6th February 1976; Vol. 904, c. 781], gave the following information:

The redevelopment of Areas 36 and F3 has already been approved in principle and building in parts of the areas is under way. The overall redevelopment plans for Area F2 remain uncertain pending the outcome of the Belfast Transportation Review but four systems-built houses have been erected and another 45 should be erected this year.

I believe that both redevolpment in and provision for overspill from these areas are necessary to help the acute housing problems in West Belfast. A final decision about the Poleglass-Lagmore scheme will be taken in the light of the report of the public inquiry, which I hope will be held later this year.
