HC Deb 04 February 1976 vol 904 c610W
Mr. Macfarlane

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many acres of Lulworth Cove were (i) opened to the public in 1975 and (ii) are planned for public use in 1976.

Mr. Judd

The arrangements for public access to the Army ranges at Lulworth involve the provision mainly of footpaths as follows:

As from 5th September 1975 15 miles of footpaths, 1½ miles of beaches and a car park have been open to the public on specified days which will total 150 days in a full year. Some of these paths were opened on a more limited basis previously.

In 1976 these footpaths and other facilities should be open to the public for the full period.

It is not possible to express the arrangements in terms of acres.
