§ Mr. Trotterasked the Secretary of State for Defence how many Jetstream aircraft were purchased by the RAF; when, and at what cost; what use has been made of them; and what use is to be made of them in future.
§ Mr. JohnI would refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave to his earlier Question on this subject on 6th March 1975.—[Vol. 888, c. 66.]—Since then a further three Jetstreams have been delivered to the RAF. The future of the aircraft is still under review. In the meantime all the RAF's Jetstreams have been placed in storage, except for one currently 611W with Scottish Aviation Ltd. In addition to the use of the aircraft referred to in my earlier reply, seven of the Jetstreams were used for pilot training in 1974. It is not the practice to give confidential details of individual contracts with industry for the procurement of defence equipment.
