HC Deb 21 December 1976 vol 923 cc130-1W
Mr. Dodsworth

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make estimates and projections to show when the increasing level of radioactivity in fish caught near nuclear effluent discharge points is likely to reach the limits recommended by the International Commission on Radiological Protection and the Medical Research Council.

Mr. Bishop

The exercise of the rigorous control arrangements to minimise levels of radioactive waste discharged is designed to prevent radioactivity in fish from rising above present levels. Further arrangements have been set in hand to reduce the amount of radioactivity discharged and the consequent levels in fish.
