HC Deb 13 December 1976 vol 922 cc525-6W
18. Mr. John Garrett

asked the Secretary of State for Industry how many of the officials in the unit of his Department which deals with planning agreements have been recruited from industrial management and the trades unions.

Mr. Alan Williams

Two officials at senior level have been seconded from industry and we can call on the services of my Department's Industrial Development Unit and industrial adviser on trade union matters.

There are, of course, in industrial sponsoring divisions in this and in other Departments a number of people who have had industrial experience and they are also involved in planning agreement discussion.

31. Mr. Thorne

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what progress he has made in the field of planning agreements through the National Enterprise Board; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Kaufman

It has never been intended that the National Enterprise Board should be a party to planning agreements.
