HC Deb 13 December 1976 vol 922 c506W
Mr. Sims

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what plans he has to increase the number of junior attendance centres in England and Wales within the next 12 months.

Mr. John

While it remains the Government's policy to expand the junior attendance centre system if resources become available, there is no provision in current plans for public expenditure for an expansion of the system.

Mr. Sims

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many junior attendance centres were in regular operation in England and Wales on the most convenient recent date; and what were the corresponding figures for each of the last five years.

Mr. John

At the present time there are 60 junior attendance centres in regular operation in England and Wales. The number has not changed over the past five years.
