Mr. Brotherton

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the total number of people who have been deported from the United Kingdom to date in 1976; what were their names; to which countries they were deported; for what reason; and what were their countries of origin.

The total number of persons deported from the United Kingdom in 1976 up to 30th November was 476. It would be contrary to normal practice to disclose the names of those concerned; and details of the countries to which they were removed could not be provided without disproportionate cost. The available information is given below for deportation orders made under Sections 3(5)(a), 3(5)(b) and 3(6) of the Immigration Act 1971:
