HC Deb 13 December 1976 vol 922 c539W
Mr. Shersby

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the average home loss payment made by local authorities for each of the past two years (a) in Greater London and (b) in the country as a whole.

Mr. Guy Barnett

The information is not readily available, but from a sample taken last year, covering payments by the GLC, three London borough councils and 17 other local authorities in England and Wales, and including payments by central Government, the average for the areas of the London authorities was just over £350 and for those of other authorities just under £320.
