HC Deb 09 December 1976 vol 922 c295W
40. Sir A. Meyer

asked the Lord President of the Council what are his intentions concerning the forestry sector as regards devolution.

Mr. John Smith

With the exception of fiscal, international and plant health aspects, responsibility for forestry policy in Scotland and Wales will be transferred to the Scottish and Welsh administrations. But the Forestry Commission will be maintained as the instrument for carrying out the forestry policies of the devolved administrations.
