asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what has been the percentage increase of agricultural products in the United Kingdom for each of the past four years; what is the estimated figure for the current year; and if he will make a statement on what action he intends to take to increase the amount of food produced in the United Kingdom.

Figures showing the net product of the agricultural industry from 1965–66 are given in Table 19 of the 1976 Annual Review White Paper (Cmnd. 6392). Revised figures for 1975–76 and forecasts for 1976–77 are being prepared as part of the current annual review exercise. The Government's policy will continue to be guided by the White Paper "Food From Our Own Resources".
