Mr. Michael Marshall

asked the Secretary of State for Industry how many people are employed by the National Committee on Computer Networks; and what is the total cost of the Committee per annum to public funds.

I refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave to the hon. Member for Louth (Mr. Brotherton) on 8th November 1976—[Vol. 919. c.26]—for the cost of the Committee.

Two people are at present employed in the secretariat, which has the following functions: identifying the main problem areas and making appropriate policy recommendations to the Committee; servicing the needs of the Committee; providing a co-ordinating service for the Committee with Government Departments, public and private sectors of industry and other network users.
