§ 16. Mr. McCuskerasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what action he intends to take to reduce the disparity in gas prices between Northern Ireland and Great Britain.
§ Mr. ConcannonThe relatively high cost of gas in Northern Ireland was one of the main reasons for commissioning the industry study being undertaken by the British Gas Corporation. I will consider possible courses of action in the light of the report on this study, expected early next year, and its public expenditure implications. As it was announced on 17th November, needy gas consumers in Northern Ireland are to be included in the discount scheme this winter on the same terms as electricity users.
