HC Deb 06 August 1976 vol 916 c1153W
Mr. Bowden

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the weekly amount currently paid to a former private soldier discharged after three or more years' service as a result of a 60 per cent. disablement due to Service in the 1939–45 war.

Mr. Alfred Morris

My Department pays war pension of £13.08 a week regardless of length of service. This is to be increased to £15 a week from 15th November.

Mr. Bowden

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what would be the cost of providing equality of compensation for equal disablement resulting from service in Her Majesty's Forces, after three or more years' service, irrespective of when that disablement was sustained.

Mr. Alfred Morris

The cost of bringing war disablement pensions paid by my Department up to the rates received by those who benefit also under the Armed Forces Pensions Scheme of the Ministry of Defence is estimated at £154 million a year.
