§ Mr. George Rodgersasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what steps will be taken to investigate the effect of labour only sub-contracting in the construction industry in Northern Ireland, in view of the setting up of the Construction Industry Manpower Board to advise the Secretary of State for the Environment on this problem in Great Britain.
§ Mr. ConcannonOfficials of the Northern Ireland Department of Finance have been keeping in touch with the activities of the board which include the giving of advice to my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment 1127W on the extent and effect of sub-contracting by the self-employed in the construction industry. I will shortly be making proposals to the Northern Ireland Construction Industry Advisory Council on how the functions of the board could best be carried out in Northern Ireland.
