HC Deb 03 August 1976 vol 916 cc673-4W
Mr. Alan Lee Williams

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is his estimate of the capital costs of constructing a flood barrier in Rainham Creek.

Mr. Strang

The proposals for a dam closing Rainham Creek are estimated, at March 1976 prices, to cost about £3 million. Of this sum, between £1 million and £1.5 million represents the cost of the dam, the remainder being shared, in roughly equal proportions, between the raising of the defences fronting Frog Island and the construction of a sluice.
