HC Deb 03 August 1976 vol 916 cc733-4W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) why he will not give details of the time and dates when ministerial or Government cars were used by the five former Prime Ministers;

(2) why he will not give for the longest and most convenient stated period of time the daily or monthly use of the Government supplied cars to former Prime Ministers and for what official purposes these cars were used by these former Prime Ministers.

Mr. Armstrong

For security reasons.

Mr. Grimond

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment which of the five ex-Prime Ministers has applied for the provision of free cars and drivers.

Mr. Armstrong

Two of the ex-Prime Ministers have cars allocated for their use for security reasons. Two others make very infrequent use of the Government car service pool.
