HC Deb 03 August 1976 vol 916 cc709-11W
Dr. M. S. Miller

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will identify the nature and the amount of each constituent element of the NHS income of a principal in general medical practice in the United Kingdom.

Dr. Owen

I regret that United Kingdom figures are not available. The following figures are for Great Britain and show the average amounts per principal for each type of payment in respect of general medical services for 1975–76. They are based on estimates; for purposes of comparison the figures are given to two decimal places, but accuracy to this degree is not warranted.

practice in England and Wales in the latest financial year; and how it compared with the income in each of the years since 1948.

1974–75 10,990
1973–74 9,700
1972–73 9,010
1971–72 8,420
