HC Deb 02 August 1976 vol 916 c545W
Mr. Boardman

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will give an estimate of the number of people employed in jobs for which the negotiated wage rates fall short of social security benefits.

Mr. Harold Walker

Estimates are not available of the numbers of employees for whom the negotiated basic weekly wage rates are less than specified amounts. Moreover, social security benefits are dependent on family circumstances and needs and so can vary between individuals with identical basic wage rates.
