HC Deb 02 August 1976 vol 916 cc621-2W
25. Mr. James Johnson

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what discussions he has had with the Post Office since the World Maritime Administrative Radio Conference 1974 strongly opposed the abolition of ship charges, regarding the Post Office position upon this at recent international meetings.

Mr. Les Huckfield

Tariff policy is the responsibility of the Post Office but I understand that in preparing for these meetings, it has consulted the other interests concerned. It has also kept my Department informed.

Mr. James Johnson

asked the Secretary of State for Industry (1) what talks he has had with the Post Office concerning its views upon the abolition of ship charges put forward at the Geneva meeting commencing 27th January 1975;

(2) what representations have been made to him by the Post Office concerning changes in the tariff for ship charges, following meetings of the Joint Working Party of the Plenary Assembly of the International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee meeting in Geneva in September 1976.

Mr. Les Huckfield

I refer my hon. Friend to the answer I have given him today to his other Question on this subject.
