HC Deb 02 August 1976 vol 916 c621W
24. Mr. Madel

asked the Secretary of State for Industry when he will announce the release of investment funds for the modernisation of British Leyland foundries.

Mr. Varley

British Leyland is still considering its plans for investment in foundry modernisation, and should be submitting them to the NEB for approval shortly.

Mr. Grylls

asked the Secretary of State for Industry (1) if he will list the average weekly production of cars and commercial vehicles by British Leyland for each January-May period since 1968;

(2) if he will list the average weekly number of employees in the British Leyland car and commercial divisions, respectively, in each year since 1968.

Mr. Les Huckfield

I have made available to the House a summary report by the National Enterprise Board on British Leyland's performance during the current financial year. The hon. Member is seeking more detailed information about British Leyland's performance which is a matter for the British Leyland board. The hon. Member should, therefore, write to the chief executive on this.

Mr. Grylls

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will list the share of new major car registrations in the United Kingdom achieved by British Leyland in each half-yearly January to June period since 1968.

Mr. Les Huckfield
