HC Deb 02 August 1976 vol 916 cc642-3W
Mr. Stanley

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment which are the four local authorities in England that have applied since 6th May 1976 to sell council houses at discounts of over 20 per cent.; what is the maximum discount for which consent is being sought by each authority; and what response he has made.

Mr. Freeson

I presume that the hon. Member is referring to information given in the answer which my hon. Friend gave to the hon. Member for Merioneth (Mr. Thomas on 20th July—[Vol. 915, c. 429]. The four authorities were North Bedfordshire Borough Council, Ashford Borough Council, Kent, City of Nottingham and the Greater London Council, all of who sought to sell at up to 30 per cent. reduction on current unrestricted market value. These authorities have been advised that it is not my policy to grant new special consents to sell at discounts of more than 20 per cent.
