HC Deb 12 April 1976 vol 909 cc422-3W
Mr. Sims

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many places there were in community homes in England and Wales on 1st April 1974, 1975 and 1976; and in each case how many such places were designated as being in secure accommodation.

Dr. Owen

According to regional plans there were some 40,000 places in community homes in England and Wales on 1st April 1974 of which 173 were secure, and some 41,800 places on 1st April 1975 of which 193 were secure. Comparable information for 1976 is not yet available, but I will send it to the hon. Member as soon as it is. I regret that the answer given to the hon. Member's Question of 11th February 1975 stated that there were on 1st April 1974, 38,000 places in community homes. The places in Wales were inadvertently omitted from this figure.—[Vol. 886, c. 1212.]
