§ Mr. John FraserI am informed by the Manpower Services Commission that the number of redundancies recorded as due to occur in the North-Western Standard Region in 1974, 1975 and up to 31st March 1976, was 18,200, 32,400 and 6,900* respectively.
The notification provisions of the Employment Protection Act were implemented on 8th March and up to 2nd April, I had received notifications of proposed redundancies involving 11,269 employees of which 6,345 were notified under the transitional provisions.

293Wthe numbers of redundancies recorded as due to occur in the Bolton travel-to-work area, in 1974, 1975 and up to 31st March 1976, were 330, 1,100 and 150* respectively. The numbers of redundancies recorded as due to occur in the textile industry in the same periods were 190, 440 and 40 respectively.
The notification provisions of the Employment Protection Act were implemented on 8th March and, up to 2nd April, I had received notificaions of proposed redundancies affecting 965 employees of which 91 were notified under the transitional provisions. One notification, involving 284 employees, has subsequently been withdrawn as a result of the approval of an application for the Temporary Employment Subsidy. Of these notifications three redundancies involving 519 employees were in the textitle industry.
