§ Mr. Shersbyasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether local authorities are required to verify with the high commission or embassy concerned that any immigrant arriving in the United Kingdom who claims to be homeless has become homeless as the result of unforeseen events and that such events do not include the voluntary decision of an immigrant to leave his own country and proceed to the United Kingdom without first having arranged for suitable accommodation to be available.
