HC Deb 08 April 1976 vol 909 cc280-1W
Mr. Marten

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will propose to the European Community that the amount of reserve stocks of the main items of food, which should be held in order to assure the availability of supplies, should now be specified.

Mr. Bishop

No. The supply of food depends upon a number of factors, including the world market situation, and in general neither my right hon. Friend nor I see any need for the Community to specify particular levels of reserve stocks in order to assure the availability of supplies.
