HC Deb 08 April 1976 vol 909 c240W
24. Mr. MacGregor

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what instructions he has given to the Boundary Commission on the inquiry upon which it has just embarked into parliamentary constituency boundaries in England and Wales.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

The Boundary Commission for England has given notice of its intention to commence a general review of constituencies in England, but the Commission for Wales has not. The procedure and rules to be observed by the Commissions in conducting a review are prescribed in the House of Commons (Redistribution of Seats) Acts 1949 and 1958 and I have no authority to issue any instructions in the matter.
