HC Deb 05 April 1976 vol 909 c29W
Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland when he expects the Boundary Commission for Northern Ireland to complete its review of constituencies; whether it will take into account the relevant recommendations of the Report of the Commission on the Constitution; and what the Boundary Commission's basis of comparison will be with constituencies in Great Britain.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

The Boundary Commission for Northern Ireland aims to submit its report in 1979. The number of constituencies in Northern Ireland is fixed by the House of Commons (Redistribution of Seats) Act 1949. The Report of the Commission on the Constitution does not affect the statutory position.
