HC Deb 05 April 1976 vol 909 c8W
31. Mr. Ronald Atkins

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what has been the change in the British car industry's share of the world market since the United Kingdom joined the Common Market.

Mr. Carmichael

There is no reliable indication of the size of the total world car market. However, the British share of estimated world production of cars has declined from 7 per cent. in 1972 to 6 per cent. in 1974 which is the latest year for which world production figures are at present available.
