HC Deb 28 November 1975 vol 901 cc334-5W
Mr. Wrigglesworth

asked the Secretary of State for Industry whether he will make a statement on the £20 million programme of advance factories which the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced on 24th September as one of the measures to alleviate unemployment.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

The factories to be built in Scotland and in Wales are for my right hon. Friends to announce. The advance factories in England are to be located as in the list which follows. They are estimated to cost about £9 million, and when tenanted may provide about 3,500 jobs. A proportion are designed to meet the needs of smaller firms. Some of the funds will be used to buy more land to replenish our land holdings.
