HC Deb 26 November 1975 vol 901 c173W
Mr. Stephen Ross

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many zebra crossings there are in Great Britain; and what is the average number of accidents occurring at zebra crossings each month.

Mr. Carmichael

At the last count—in 1971—there were 10,664 zebra crossings. Comprehensive accident information is not available for zebras, but pedestrian casualties on uncontrolled pedestrian crossings, mostly zebras, averaged 362 per month in 1974.
