HC Deb 26 November 1975 vol 901 c197W
Mr. Norman Lamont

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection why it is expected that the expenditure on the Price Commission in 1975–76 will have increased to nearly £3.7 million compared with £1.9 in the year 1973–74.

Mr. Maclennan

About half the increase is due to increased activities resulting from an improved Price Code, including features such as the new investment relief, from the registration and increased monitoring of Category III firms, and from extra work on special references. The balance is due to pay and other cost inflation.
