Mr. Alan WilliamsThe total cost of the Metrication Board from its inception in April 1969 to the end of 1974, the latest date for which figures are available, was approximately £2,928,000. The running cost for 1974 was approximately £655,000. The Metrication Board was set up by the then Minister of Technology's decision as reported to Parliament in a statement made on 26th July 1968—[Vol. 769, c. 1167–1171]—a decision which was endorsed in the White Paper on Metrication of February 1972 (Cmnd. 4880).
