HC Deb 26 November 1975 vol 901 cc188-9W
Mrs. Chalker

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will take action, in the light of recommendations made in the report of a study group appointed by her to look at mentally handicapped children in residential care.

Dr. Owen

Most of the recommendations relate to matter of good practice; and local and health authorities have been asked to consider their application to their own residential services for mentally handicapped children. Some others require new or subordinate legislation but there are no plans for this at present.
