HC Deb 26 November 1975 vol 901 c174W
Mr. Stephen Ross

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will remove from priority status the provision of garages for older council properties.

Mr. Freeson

The provision of garaging on existing council estates is already subject to rigorous scrutiny by the Department. Local authorities are currently encouraged to provide open hard-standings for car parking, garaging provision being considered necessary only in limited circumstances comparable to those stated in paragraph 15 of the Annex to Circular 24/75, "Housing: Needs and Action."
