HC Deb 12 November 1975 vol 899 cc735-6W
30. Mr. Grimond

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if staff-watch arrangements have been introduced for the Scottish regions; and with what results.

Mr. Millan

It has been agreed with the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities that a system of monitoring local authority staff numbers in Scotland should be introduced, and the arrangements are now under discussion.

Mr. Crawford

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many people are now employed by the Tayside Regional Council and by the Perth and Kinross District Council; and how many people were employed by Perth Town Council, Perth County Council, and Kinross County Council, respectively, on 1st May 1975.

Mr. William Ross

Details of the numbers of staff employed by individual local authorities are not available. The hon. Member will realise that, even if the figures were available, they would not be comparable, owing to changes in responsibilities.
