HL Deb 12 November 1975 vol 365 c1964WA
Lord O'HAGAN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will now make a statement on the lead content of petrol.

Lord MELCHETT

May I refer the noble Lord to the reply given today, to a Parliamentary Question, by my honourable friend the Minister of State, Department of the Environment, which was as follows:

"The Government are considering what change of policy regarding lead in petrol is needed in the light of the review announced last December by my right honourable friend the then Secretary of State for Energy which is now nearing completion. It is necessary at the same time to take account of current proposals in the European Community for legislation to control airborne lead. It is hoped to provide an opportunity for the House to debate these proposals and to make a full statement at that time."
