HC Deb 12 November 1975 vol 899 cc784-5W
Mr. Tom King

asked the Secretary of State for Industry, if he will itemise any increased expenditure in real terms in 1974–75 over 1973–74 and any anticipated increase in expenditure in real terms for 1975–76 over 1974–75.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

A breakdown by programme of past and estimated future expenditure is published in the annual public expenditure White Papers.

Mr. Tom King

asked the Secretary of State for Industry how much was spent in real terms by his Department for 1973–74 and 1974–75; and what is the anticipated expenditure in real terms for 1975–76.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

In terms of the prices used in compiling the 1975 public expenditure survey, expenditure on programmes now the responsibility of the Department of Industry, excluding compensation to nationalised industries for price restraint, was £747 million in 1973–74 and £713 million in 1974–75. Provision for 1975–76, as amended by the Summer Supplementary Estimates, is £948 million.
