HC Deb 12 November 1975 vol 899 c730W
Mrs. Bain

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what proportion of Scottish households rely on electricity as their principal means of heating.

Mr. William Ross

I have been asked to reply.

I understand from the Scottish electricity boards that about 20 per cent. of the houses in the South Board's area and about 33 per cent. in the North Board's area use electricity for all purposes including cooking and heating.

I am asking the chairmen of the boards to write to the hon. Member with such further information as they may have about the use of electricity for house heating.
