§ Mr. Matesasked the Secretary of State for the Environment how much was spent by his Department on housing for the disabled during the past three years.
§ Mr. ArmstrongInformation is not available separately in the form requested.
686WThe Department's main contribution is to local authorities and housing associations, through the general system of subsidies and grants, the levels of which were increased in the Housing Act 1974 and the Housing Rents and Subsidies Act 1975.
My hon. Friend recently announced a new system for paying subsidies on special features for disabled people in wheelchair and mobility housing, and he will be reporting to Parliament in the New Year on the results of the drive launched in February to do more on housing for disabled people.
