HC Deb 12 November 1975 vol 899 c832W
Mr. Grist

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will list for each of the last three years the number of civil servants in his Department who have been prematurely retired on grounds of (i) inefficiency (ii) limited efficiency (iii) redundancy and (iv) discipline showing executive and administrative grades separately.

Mr. Peart

The information is as follows:

A leaflet stressing the need for constant vigilance has been distributed to customs officers, harbourmasters, port officials and others who may come into contact with potential smugglers.

Multi-lingual posters about our import requirements and the penalties for infringement are on widespread display at ports, airports, small harbours and coastal marinas.

Between Portland Bill and Selsey Bill, Southampton is an approved port for the reception of licensed imported animals. It has animal holding facilities and the necessary administrative arrangements for dealing with landings. All authorities on the South Coast are fully aware of the need to be on the alert, especially with regard to visiting yachtsmen from overseas.
