Mr. Biffen

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what codes of regulations made under the Factories Act 1961 are considered to apply to the Market Drayton factory of Wheeler and Pearsall Ltd.

I am informed by the Chairman of the Health and Safety Commission that codes of regulations made under the Factories Acts which apply to the factory of Wheeler and Pearsall Ltd., Market Drayton, are the Electricity Regulations 1908 and the Electricity (Factories Act) Special Regulations 1944.

asked the Secretary of State for Employment on how many occasions and on what dates the Market Drayton factory of Wheeler and Pearsall Ltd. was visited by members of Her Majesty's Inspector of Factories between registration and 30th September 1975; and what type of inspections were carried out on these occasions.

The factory of Wheeler and Pearsall Ltd. at Market Drayton was visited by Her Majesty's Inspector of Factories on seven occasions between first registration in 1970 and 30th September 1975.

The following visits were paid:

8th October 1970 Registration and general inspection.
(i) 29th March 1973 Investigation of dust problem arising from complaint.
(ii) 14th April 1973 Further visit about dust.
(iii) 22nd June 1973 To consider fencing of machinery.
(iv) 30th October 1973 To check progress made with fencing of machinery.
(v) 5th July 1974 Further visit about fencing of machinery.
(vi) 26th July 1974 Further visit about fencing of machinery.
(vii) 31st January 1975 General inspection.

asked the Secretary of State for Employment when the Market Drayton factory of Wheeler and Pearsall Ltd. was first registered with Her Majesty's District Inspector of Factories.

Mr. Harold Walker

I have been informed by the Chairman of the Health and Safety Commission that the factory of Wheeler and Pearsall Limited, Tern Hill, near Market Drayton, Shropshire, was first registered with Her Majesty's District Inspector of Factories on 8th October 1970.
