HC Deb 10 November 1975 vol 899 cc497-8W
Mr. Steen asked

the Secretary of State for Education and Science if the Government will advise the Schools Council that assessment should be built in to each research project which it funds so that the effectiveness of each can be properly evaluated.

Mr. Mulley

This is a matter for the Schools Council to decide. It is, however, now normal in the case of projects aimed at producing materials or advice for teachers to make provision for assessment and evaluation.

Mr. Steen

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science which of the 71 research projects undertaken by the Schools Council at a cost of £3,035,820 have been made available through publications to local education authorities, and which ones will be made available.

Mr. Mulley

I have asked the Schools Council for this information and will write to the hon. Member as soon as possible.
