HC Deb 10 November 1975 vol 899 c406W
Mr. George Rodgers

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he is satisfied that sufficient action is being taken to deal with the silting which is taking place in the Rivers Ribble and Mersey to protect United Kingdom exports which are being hindered by conditions in leaving the ports of Preston and Liverpool.

Dr. Gilbert

Control of siltation in the rivers Ribble and Mersey is a matter for the Port of Preston Authority and the Mersey Docks and Harbour Company respectively. I am informed that they are taking all necessary action.
