asked the Secretary of State for Energy what is the amount of public funds currently being spent on research into non-conventional energy sources, such as tidal, solar or wind power.

Mr. Eadie

The amount of public funds which will be spent during the present financial year on non-conventional energy sources—tidal, wave, solar, wind and geothermal power—is currently estimated to be approximately £600,000.
