HC Deb 10 November 1975 vol 899 cc547-8W
Mr. Banks

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what are the scales of pay in the 16 to 21 years age range applicable to laboratory assistants in National Health Service hospitals; and when the present scales were fixed.

Dr. Owen

There is no nationally recognised grade of laboratory assistant in National Health Service hospitals, but laboratory assistants in the blood transfusion service aged 18 or over receive the adult rate of weekly paying ranging from £30.52 to £32.32 and at ages 16 and 17 receive respectively 70 per cent. and 85 per cent. of these rates.
