HC Deb 10 November 1975 vol 899 cc555-6W
Mr. Michael McGuire

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will seek to amend the National Insurance (Industrial Injuries) (Amendment) Act 1967, so as to provide that anyone who is receiving a disablement pension in respect of pneumoconiosis, even if it is less than 50 per cent., will be entitled to have his disability pension increased in respect of any assessable amount of bronchitis or emphysema.

Mr. O'Malley

No. The Industrial Injuries Advisory Council in its report on pneumoconiosis and byssinosis published two years ago examined the 50 per cent. rule and recommended that the provision should continue in its present form.
