HC Deb 10 November 1975 vol 899 cc483-4W
Mr. Stephen Ross

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will give an undertaking that any new assessments for rating relating to individual holiday caravan sites are not made retrospective to April 1975.

Mr. Robert Sheldon

No. The effective date of the operation of any new assessment will depend on individual circumstances.

Mr. Stephen Ross

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the impending report of the Layfield Committee, he will issue instructions to valuation officers to suspend work on the individual assessment of holiday caravan sites.

Mr. Robert Sheldon

No. Valuation officers have substantially completed their review of the assessments of holiday caravan sites, and it would be inequitable to suspend action on the few sites remaining to be dealt with.
