HC Deb 06 May 1975 vol 891 c430W
Sir John Rodgers

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if, in view of the concession made to the Greater London Council with regard to industrial development certificates, he will reexamine the situation in the South-East and particularly certain areas in Kent which are in need of further employment possibilities.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

I recognise that parts of the South-East, including some places in Kent, have not shared consistently in the relative prosperity of the South-East generally. As the Department said in a guide to the IDC control published inTrade and Industry on 13th February 1975, projects in keeping with the needs of localities which have special employment problems are viewed sympathetically, but subject always to consideration of the extent to which the projects are mobile.
