asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many self-employed persons there are in Wales; and what percentage this represents of the total of persons in employment.

On the basis of a 10 per cent. sample from the 1971 Census, the estimated number of self-employed persons in Wales was 110,590, which represents 10.2 per cent. of the total of persons in employment.
